Dr. Laura Vong is a Washington state native and first-generation child of Cambodian refugees. She was born in Bellevue and grew up in Bothell with her parents and younger brother. Dr. Laura grew up around dentistry - her mom has been a dental hygienist for 30 years and had a profound influence on her decision to become a dentist. Growing up, Dr. Laura would spend days at her mom’s office watching the hygienists and dentists work. The dental office was always a fun place for Dr. Laura and one of her main goals is to ensure that her current and future patients enjoy their visits at what is often stereotyped, “the dreaded dentist.”
Dr. Laura graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. in Biology and took a gap year between undergrad and dental school to continue her clinical research at the UW Center for Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Laura returned to the University of Washington School of Dentistry to complete her DDS degree, graduating with awards for academic achievement, professional leadership, and community involvement. Throughout dental school, Dr. Laura was heavily involved with class office, community outreach, and the national level of the American Student Dental Association.
Dr. Laura's passion for dentistry brings together 3 main paths of interest: science, art, and people. She loves to educate patients on the importance of oral health and the mouth-body connection. She also treats her work as an art - restorative and cosmetic dentistry are her favorite aspects of dentistry. But most importantly, Dr. Laura loves dentistry because of her patients. She enjoys creating and building genuine relationships with her patients and helping them achieve their oral health goals. Her personal mission as a dentist is to make her patients feel comfortable and cared for while providing the knowledge and treatment they need to obtain their optimal oral health and dream smile.
Outside of work, Dr. Laura enjoys traveling to sunny destinations, dining at local restaurants, attending Seattle sports games, and snowboarding in the winter. She is also active in Washington’s Cambodian-American community, serving on the local board as an education committee leader. Dr. Laura currently resides in the vibrant neighborhood of Capitol Hill with her boyfriend and their mini goldendoodle, Mango!
